Should I be PRINCE2 or MSP certified?
I already have the skills, why must I become PRINCE2 or MSP certified?
With PRINCE2 being the de facto project management methodology in the UK and most European and Commonwealth countries, will it benefit you to become PRINCE2 Certified?
Not having PRINCE2 on your CV can preclude you from being put forward to certain jobs (or promotional opportunities) where employers specifically want PRINCE2 Certified candidates.
As more companies and organisation adopt PRINCE2 and with there being a bigger pool of PRINCE2 candidates to choose from, the trend for recruiting PRINCE2 only certified candidates has grown significantly.
Getting PRINCE2 certified (Foundation and Practitioner) takes approximately 35 hours study and with the flexibility of online study you can plan around work and family commitments.
As well as PRINCE2, Senior Project Managers and Programme Managers are opting to certify in MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) which follows the same foundation and practitioner format as PRINCE2.
An MSP Certification will give you an edge over other Senior Project Managers candidates, an important consideration when vying for senior level jobs.
