While being closely associated to the programme- and project management methodologies outlined in MSP® and PRINCE2®, Management of Portfolio (MoP®) targets the management of change that is brought about by formalised project- and programme management rather than each singular initiative.
MoP® equips individuals with a set of principles, techniques and practices to establish or re-energise portfolio management. These skills are required by those who are liable for the planning and implementation of change within an organisation. MoP® aids organisations in answering a fundamental question: “Are we sure this investment is right for us and how will it contribute to our strategic objectives?”
As an alternative to producing a new discipline, MoP® aims to expand on, and more efficiently coordinate, processes that are already in place such as strategic planning, investment appraisal and project- and programme management.
