Let’s jump in if you are ready to crack the code to next-level career progression.

The Importance of Professional Recognition for Managers and Leaders (What the Research Says)

It is no secret that the most successful managers and leaders are often those who their peers or other respected organisations have formally recognised.

This professional recognition can come in many forms, such as awards, scholarships, certifications, and fellowships.

But what does the research say about the importance of professional recognition for managers and leaders?

A study published in the Harvard Business Review found that formal recognition from one’s peers is one of the most important predictors of success in leadership positions.

The study’s authors analysed data from over 1,500 CEOs and Senior Executives across various industries and found that those who had received formal recognition were more likely to be successful in their roles.

The study’s authors suggest several reasons why peer-recognised leaders are more successful than those without such recognition.

  1.  Receiving formal recognition indicates that other people believe in your ability to lead.

This boost in confidence can lead to improved decision-making and better performance overall.

  1. Being recognised by your peers helps build a strong network of support, which is invaluable in navigating challenging situations throughout your career.
