As of 2023, PeopleCert and Axelos certifications are valid for three years after passing your exam. This change brings up an important question: how do you renew your PeopleCert certification once it expires? Fortunately, there are two primary ways to renew your certification:
- PeopleCert’s Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Points
- Passing an Official Exam within the Same Suite as Your Current Certification

Maintaining Your Certification Through CPD Points
To maintain your certification through CPD points, you need to subscribe to the PeopleCert Plus Plan, available on a monthly (£10 incl. VAT per month at the time of writing) or annual (£99 incl. VAT per year at the time of writing) basis. This membership not only enables you to log and manage your CPD points but also grants access to industry news, best practices, exam preparation materials, webinars, and exclusive material.
CPD points can be logged in three categories:
1. Professional Experience (Minimum 5 points required)
- Applying best practices in the workplace
- Coaching colleagues on best practices
- Mentoring individuals or groups
- Work shadowing colleagues
2. Professional Education (Maximum 15 points allowed)
- PeopleCert certifications
- Certifications from other PeopleCert Accredited Training Organisations (ATOs)
- Certifications from non-PeopleCert Accredited Training Organisations
- Professional qualifications from awarding bodies
- In-house training
- E-learning
- Reading relevant books, publications, research, and white papers
- Engaging with podcasts and webinars
3. Community (Maximum 15 points allowed)
- Organising industry-related events
- Contributing to community discussion forums
- Authoring thought leadership pieces
- Attending industry events
- Reading community discussion forums
- Volunteering to share knowledge and experience
To maintain your certification, you must log a total of 20 CPD points per year for three consecutive years.
Steps to Log Your CPD Points
Passing an Official Exam Within the Same Suite

- Project, Programme, and Portfolio Management
- RESILIA
When you pass an additional certification within the same suite, all certifications within that suite are automatically renewed to the most recent certification’s expiry date. For example, if you earn the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification in February 2024 (expiring February 2027) and later pass the PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner certification in November 2026, both certifications will now expire in November 2029.
